Custom e-bike cables for manufacturers – from specification to delivery

7 min read·26 Oct 2026

For bicycle, motor and drive manufacturers: when a custom cable variant makes sense, what belongs in the specification and how delivery in larger quantities in boxes of 500 works.

When a custom cable variant makes sense

In the catalogue we list fixed lengths: 300, 400, 500, 1300, 1900 and 2300 mm, depending on the article. For manufacturers that is not always enough – for example when a new drive system or motor is being developed, a frame needs a different routing or a different assembly is required. For these cases we configure and produce custom cables on request.

  • A new drive system or motor is in development.
  • A new frame or bicycle model needs a different routing.
  • The required length is outside the catalogue sizes.
  • An assembly other than the standard range is needed.
  • Larger quantities are needed for your own production, such as boxes of 500.

New drives and frames often call for their own lengths and assemblies.

Check first: does a catalogue article fit?

Before a new variant is created, it is worth checking the standard range. The compatibility overview shows which drives and headlights our existing cables cover. We also supply every catalogue cable to manufacturers in boxes of 500.

What belongs in the specification

The more precisely the requirements are described, the more specifically an enquiry can be answered. Not everything has to be fixed at the start – we clarify open points together.

  • System side: drive system or motor and its port
  • Other end: headlight, rear light or other component and its plug
  • Length(s) and routing in the frame, e.g. through down tube, head tube or handlebar
  • Operating conditions the cable has to meet
  • Drawing, datasheet or sample – if available
  • Planned quantity and timeline
  • Packaging type (box of 500 or 100, workshop or single pack) and labelling requirements

How an OEM enquiry works

  1. Enquiry: you describe your project and your requirements for the cable.
  2. Alignment: we answer your enquiry individually and clarify open points of the specification with you.
  3. Production and delivery: we produce the agreed cable variant and deliver it in the packaging type you need – for production in boxes of 500.

Three steps from enquiry to delivery.

Quantities and packaging

Every cable is available in all packaging types – catalogue cables as well as newly developed OE cable variants. In the OEM area the focus is on larger quantities for production, typically in boxes of 500. The sizes below are the usual ones; any other order quantity can be realised as well.

  • OEM: box of 500 for series assembly, optionally box of 100
  • Workshop: workshop pack of 10 cables of the same specification
  • Aftermarket: single pack

A variant you source in boxes of 500 for original equipment can therefore also be supplied as a single or workshop pack – for example for service and retrofitting. Disposal, material composition and producer contact for each packaging type are listed on our packaging page. If your production has its own labelling requirements, please state them in your enquiry.
