  • What do I do if my drive system has no light output?▾

    Our light cables connect an existing light output on the drive to the lighting. Without a light output there is no product for that in our range — we do not offer anything that generates a power supply or taps it elsewhere. The drive or bicycle manufacturer can tell you which connection options your drive provides; a specialist workshop carries out the work.

  • How do I connect lights to a drive with open cable ends (including compatibility with Shimano1 STEPS1)?▾

    Use a cable with an open cable end on the drive side and CT1B on the headlight side: SHCT1Bc130, SHCT1Bc190 or SHCT1Bc230 in 1300, 1900 or 2300 mm, each AWG24, IPX6 and max. 3 A plug current. Join the open end to the drive light cable with the CT22 single-wire connector; it is included in every single pack, accepts conductors of 0.4–0.7 mm (AWG 21–26) and is moisture-resistant and self-sealing — not waterproof.   • Which system-side connector do the futurelectric cables for Avinox1 have?▾

    On the system side is the Higo Micro M1 plug (Female | Higo1 Z405MM), which we list as HG01. On the light side it is CT1B or an open cable end, depending on the article; you join the open end with the supplied CT22 connector.

  • Are there futurelectric cables for other drive systems?▾

    We manufacture a system plug for Bosch Smart System1 (BES3), Yamaha1 PW-X31 / PW Series S2 and Avinox1 M1 & M2. For all other drives, use our cables with an open cable end: SHCT1Bc130, SHCT1Bc190 and SHCT1Bc230 in 1300, 1900 and 2300 mm with CT1B on the light side, or Y-cable YCc50b with 500 mm and three open ends for headlight and rear light. Join the open end to your drive light cable with CT22. You can extend an existing CT1 run by 300 mm with CAc30ct1Act1B.

  • How do I connect lights to an Avinox1 drive with futurelectric cables?▾

    For Avinox1 M1 & M2 we have three variants. AVHG01CT1Bc40b: 400 × 3.0 mm, HG01 to CT1B — for headlights with a CT1 plug. AVHG01c30b: 300 × 3.0 mm, HG01 to an open cable end, with one CT22 connector in the single pack. YCHG01c30b: Y-cable, 300 × 3.0 mm, HG01 to two open cable ends, with two CT22 connectors — this supplies headlight and rear light from one connection. All three are specified as AWG26, IPX6 and max. 2 A plug current. The system connection is made at the Central Control Display, and on the M2 system also at the motor. When connecting open ends, observe the colour coding.

  • Do the futurelectric headlight cables for Shimano1 STEPS1 have a system plug?▾

    No. Cables SHCT1Bc130, SHCT1Bc190 and SHCT1Bc230 have an open cable end on the drive side and the CT1B plug on the headlight side. You join the open end to the existing light cable of the drive — each single pack includes one CT22 single-wire connector. The workshop pack contains ten cables without CT22; order the connectors separately as the 100-piece box CT22-BO100.

  • Which headlights can I connect with futurelectric cables?▾

    Our system cables end on the headlight side with the CT1B plug (HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible). It connects headlights with a CT1 plug (Litemove1), Lupine1 headlights with a HIGO1 plug and the Supernova1 Power-Connection-System. If your headlight has open cable ends instead, choose a cable version with an open end and join it with the CT22 single-wire connector. Check the technical requirements of light and motor before installation.

  • Can I connect front and rear lights with a futurelectric Y-cable?▾

    Yes, we have two Y-cables for that. YCc50b: 500 × 3.2 mm, three open cable ends, AWG24, IPX6, max. 3 A, with three CT22 connectors in the single pack — it splits your drive light cable to headlight and rear light. YCHG01c30b: 300 × 3.0 mm, HG01 plug for Avinox1 M1 & M2 to two open cable ends, AWG26, IPX6, max. 2 A, with two CT22 connectors. Both are connected via open ends — observe the colour coding and check the technical requirements of light and motor beforehand.

  • What if my headlight has open cable ends?▾

    Then you need a cable that also has an open end on the light side: AVHG01c30b or Y-cable YCHG01c30b for Avinox1, or universal Y-cable YCc50b with 500 × 3.2 mm and three open ends. The joint is made with the CT22 single-wire connector included with these articles in the single pack: 2-2 pole, for conductors of 0.4–0.7 mm (AWG 21–26), moisture-resistant and self-sealing thanks to the grease filling — not waterproof. Observe the colour coding. Our cables with CT1B on the light side do not fit here, because they have a plug rather than an open end.

  • Does the CT1B plug (HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible) fit a Lupine1 headlight with a HIGO1 plug?▾

    Yes. CT1B is our designation for the plug in HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible form — it connects Lupine1 headlights with a HIGO1 plug. Every one of our cables with CT1B on the light side fits there: B3F1CT1Bc130 for Bosch Smart System1, SHCT1Bc130 / 190 / 230, YX2YCT1Bc130 for Yamaha1 and AVHG01CT1Bc40b for Avinox1. Check the technical requirements of light and motor before installation.

    Connect the Supernova1 Power-Connection-System to our CT1B plug.   • What maximum plug current do you state for the CT1B plug?▾

    We state the maximum plug current per cable. For the CT1B cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1 PW-X31 / PW Series S2 it is 3 A, as it is for extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B and Y-cable YCc50b. For the Avinox1 cables we state 2 A. That is the current rating of our connector — not the permitted power draw at the light output of your drive; the drive manufacturer sets that limit.

  • What does futurelectric mean by “Higo1-compatible” or Higo1 plug designations?▾

    Higo1 is a third-party brand; Higo Micro B1 and Higo Micro M1 are connector form factors. We use these designations so you can match the plug form of our connectors: CT1B is HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible, CT1A is HIGO Micro B1 Female compatible, and the Avinox1 system plug HG01 is a Higo Micro M1 (Female | Higo1 Z405MM). The statement describes the plug form and is not an approval by HIGO1.

  • How do I identify which plug my e-bike or headlight has?▾

    Start from the drive system, then the plug side is unambiguous: Bosch Smart System1 (BES3) has the blue Bosch1 front light plug, Yamaha1 PW-X31 / PW Series S2 the Yamaha1 system plug, Avinox1 M1 & M2 the Higo Micro M1 (Female | Higo1 Z405MM). For Shimano1 and other drives we manufacture cables with an open cable end that joins the existing light cable via CT22. On the headlight side, CT1B (HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible) is the plug form for Litemove1 headlights with a CT1 plug, Lupine1 with a HIGO1 plug and the Supernova1 Power-Connection-System. Every product page states the connection type with both plug sides; if you are unsure, contact us or have the fit assessed in a specialist workshop.

  • How does the designation CT1B relate to “HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible”?▾

    Both describe the same plug. CT1B is our product designation; “HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible” states the form factor — so you can match headlights with that plug form. The counterpart is CT1A in our range and is HIGO Micro B1 Female compatible; it is used on extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B.

  • How do Higo Micro B1 and Higo Micro M1 differ on futurelectric cables?▾

    They are two different form factors for two different connection sides. Higo Micro B1 describes the light side: CT1B is HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible, the counterpart CT1A is HIGO Micro B1 Female compatible. Higo Micro M1 (Female | Higo1 Z405MM) — HG01 in our range — is the system-side plug of the Avinox1 cables. The two form factors are not interchangeable.

  • What do the designations CT1, CT1A, CT1B and CT22 mean at futurelectric?▾

    CT1 is our plug family for headlight connections. CT1B is the male side (HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible) and sits on the headlight side of all our system cables. CT1A is the female side (HIGO Micro B1 Female compatible); it is used on extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B, which runs CT1A to CT1B (300 × 3.2 mm). CT22 is not part of the CT1 family: it is our 2-2 pole single-wire connector with grease filling for open cable ends of 0.4–0.7 mm (AWG 21–26), moisture-resistant and self-sealing.

  • What does the material designation TPU in the futurelectric product data mean?▾

    TPU stands for thermoplastic polyurethane. It is the insulation material of all our light cables and is PVC-free; the cables are specified for −25 °C to +80 °C, and the conductors are copper. For the CT22 single-wire connector we use PC (polycarbonate) for the housing and bronze for the contacts.

  • What does the AWG24 figure in the product data mean?▾

    AWG stands for American Wire Gauge, the North American measure of conductor cross-section — the larger the number, the thinner the conductor. AWG24 is the cross-section of our cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1 and of Y-cable YCc50b; the Avinox1 cables and extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B are AWG26. We do not convert these figures into mm².

  • How much power may the lighting draw at the drive light output?▾

    The permitted power draw is set by the drive manufacturer — it is a property of the drive light output, not of our cable. On our side the limit is the maximum plug current: 3 A for the cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1 PW-X31 / PW Series S2, for extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B and for Y-cable YCc50b, and 2 A for the Avinox1 cables. Stay within both limits — the figure for your drive and our plug current.

  • What temperature range do the cables have?▾

    All our light cables are specified for −25 °C to +80 °C. The CT22 single-wire connector is rated for −30 °C to +70 °C.

  • Why are futurelectric cables PVC-free?▾

    We use TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) as the insulation material and copper as the conductor material — no PVC. All our light cables are specified for −25 °C to +80 °C and meet the legally required RoHS substance restriction.

  • What voltage applies to the light connection on the drive — and where do I find that figure?▾

    The voltage at the light output is defined by the drive manufacturer; it is a property of the drive, not of our cable, which is why we publish no values for it. For our cables we state the withstanding voltage: AC250V for the cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1 as well as for the extension and Y cables, and a rated voltage of 48 V AC/DC at 500 V withstanding voltage for the Avinox1 cables. The CT22 single-wire connector is rated for a maximum of 75 V/DC or 50 V/AC. Check the technical requirements of light and motor before installation.

  • What does the UL20549 figure in the product data mean?▾

    UL20549 is the UL style number of our cable material. We state it together with RoHS and REACH for the cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1, and together with RoHS for the Avinox1 cables and extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B. For Y-cable YCc50b we state RoHS; for the CT22 single-wire connector we state none of these.

  • What cable cross-section do the futurelectric cables have?▾

    AWG24 for the cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1 and for Y-cable YCc50b. AWG26 for the Avinox1 cables and for extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B. We do not convert AWG into mm²; the AWG figure on the respective product datasheet is authoritative.

  • What does “RoHS compliant” mean for futurelectric products?▾

    RoHS is the EU directive on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. All our light cables meet RoHS requirements. For the cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1 we additionally state REACH and UL20549; for the Avinox1 cables and extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B, UL20549.

  • What does protection rating IPX6 in the product data mean?▾

    IPX6 means protection against powerful water jets. All our light cables are specified as IPX6. The rating applies to the cable product itself — not automatically to every joint you make with it, and not to the bicycle as a whole. We do not state a protection rating for the CT22 single-wire connector; it is moisture-resistant and self-sealing, but not waterproof.

  • Are the materials PVC-free and RoHS compliant?▾

    Yes. All our light cables are PVC-free and meet RoHS requirements. We use TPU as the insulation material and copper as the conductor material. For the cables for Bosch Smart System1, Shimano1 and Yamaha1 we additionally state UL20549 and REACH; for the Avinox1 cables and the CAc30ct1Act1B extension cable, UL20549.

  • Does retrofitting lights affect the warranty of the drive or bicycle?▾

    That is decided by the drive or bicycle manufacturer in its warranty and guarantee terms, not by futurelectric. Our cables do not intervene in the drive: they are plugged into the existing light output or joined to the existing light cable. Clarify any possible effects with the manufacturer or your dealer before installation.

  • Which cable length do I need — and which fixed lengths are in the range?▾

    We stock these lengths: 1300, 1900 and 2300 mm for the cables with an open cable end and CT1B (SHCT1Bc130 / 190 / 230), 1300 mm for Bosch Smart System1 (B3F1CT1Bc130) and Yamaha1 (YX2YCT1Bc130), 400 mm for Avinox1 with CT1B (AVHG01CT1Bc40b), 300 mm for the Avinox1 variants with open ends (AVHG01c30b, YCHG01c30b), 500 mm for Y-cable YCc50b and 300 mm for extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B. Which length you need depends on the frame and routing path — measure along the planned route. If a CT1 run is not long enough, insert the 300 mm extension.

  • How do I join open cable ends in a moisture-resistant way?▾

    With our CT22 single-wire connector: 2-2 pole, 23 × 4 × 8 mm, PC housing, bronze contacts, for conductors of 0.4–0.7 mm (AWG 21–26), up to 75 V/DC or 50 V/AC, −30 °C to +70 °C. The grease filling protects the contact from moisture on a lasting basis; the connector is moisture-resistant and self-sealing, it is not waterproof. The conductors are stripped and contacted during crimping — use a parallel-action crimping tool for wire connectors and do not remove the gel. Some gel escaping is normal and depends on the conductor diameter. CT22 is included with every single pack that has open cable ends; for the workshop there is the 100-piece box CT22-BO100.   • What tools do I need for installation?▾

    For the system plugs and the CT1B plug you need no tools — they are plugged in. For open cable ends with CT22 you need a parallel-action crimping tool for wire connectors; the conductors are stripped and contacted during crimping. Add the usual workshop materials for strain relief and abrasion protection on the frame.

  • May I shorten a futurelectric light cable?▾

    The plug ends are factory-terminated — they are not shortened. You may cut an open cable end to length and reconnect it with CT22; our cables in AWG24 and AWG26 fall within the connector’s conductor range of 0.4–0.7 mm (AWG 21–26). Never leave a shortened end unterminated. If you are unsure about making a new termination, contact us or have it done by a specialist workshop.

  • What if the light does not work after retrofitting?▾

    Work through the checklist in order. Is the system-side end on the correct connection, and is it fully inserted? Does the light side match — CT1B only on a headlight with a CT1 or Higo Micro B1 compatible plug form, otherwise the open-end variant? Do length and system variant match the article number and EAN on your invoice? For open ends: is the conductor in the 0.4–0.7 mm range, is the CT22 cleanly crimped, and is 2-2 polarity assigned correctly? Is voltage present at the light output — we publish no limit values for that; it is in the documentation for the drive and headlight. If it stays dark, contact a specialist workshop or us.

  • What should I watch for when routing the light cable on the frame?▾

    Route the cable and plugs so they are not crushed, chafed or bent tightly, and provide strain relief and abrasion protection on the frame. Join open cable ends with CT22 and do not leave them exposed. The cables themselves are specified for this use: TPU insulation, IPX6, −25 °C to +80 °C; the resulting connection is mechanically firm, moisture-resistant, electrically safe and vibration-proof.

  • Does installation have to be carried out in a specialist workshop?▾

    We develop the cable systems for professional workshop use. The plug connections are mated without tools; for open cable ends you need a crimping tool and must assign the colour coding correctly. If you do not do this routinely, contact us or have the installation carried out in a specialist workshop. Whether it is mandatory depends on the bicycle, the drive and the terms of your manufacturer.

  • Can I extend a light cable with futurelectric products?▾

    Yes. For CT1 plug connections we manufacture extension cable CAc30ct1Act1B: 300 × 3.2 mm, CT1A (HIGO Micro B1 Female compatible) to CT1B (HIGO Micro B1 Male compatible), AWG26, IPX6, max. 3 A plug current. You insert it between the system cable and the headlight. Extend open cable ends with CT22 instead. Then check that the overall length matches your routing path.

  • May I fit any headlights on the e-bike?▾

    Technically, any headlight whose plug form matches our CT1B, or which has open cable ends, will fit — provided its voltage and power requirements match the light output of your drive. Whether a particular headlight is permitted in public road traffic is not something we assess: that depends on the applicable rules. If you are unsure, contact us or ask at a specialist workshop.

  • What lighting is required on a pedelec under the StVZO?▾

    We manufacture connection cables and do not give legal advice. Which lighting is required on your pedelec depends on the rules that apply to you and on the classification of your bicycle — clarify this with a specialist workshop or a testing organisation. Independently of that, the technical rule is: plugs and the electrical requirements of drive and headlight must match.

    Speak to us about this directly. In the catalogue we list fixed lengths: 300, 400, 500, 1300, 1900 and 2300 mm, depending on the article. Enquiries from bicycle and drive manufacturers about other lengths and assemblies are answered individually via the contact page.

    We manufacture light cables for Bosch Smart System1 (BES3), Shimano1, Yamaha1 PW-X31 / PW Series S2 and Avinox1 M1 & M2, plus universal versions with open cable ends. Bosch1, Yamaha1 and Avinox1 cables carry a system plug on the drive side. The Shimano1 and universal cables have an open cable end there and are joined to the existing light cable with the supplied CT22 single-wire connector.   • What is the difference between single pack and workshop pack?▾

    The technology is identical — quantity and scope of delivery differ. The single pack contains one cable; if it has open cable ends, the matching CT22 connectors are included: one with SHCT1Bc130 / 190 / 230 and AVHG01c30b, two with Avinox1 Y-cable YCHG01c30b, three with Y-cable YCc50b. The workshop pack contains ten cables of the same specification, without CT22. For the workshop, order the connectors separately as the 100-piece box CT22-BO100.
